POD Omnibus: To make POD shopping easier for book lovers, I am building this humble, on-going list of titles, sorted by genre.  Anyone who wishes to add their book to this catalog is welcome to submit their title.  Please include a link to a cover photo, or a review, and a link to where the book can be bought—the whole point is to sell your book.

I envision this as the first step to making a selective catalog of POD from all sources, including Lulu.com, BookSurge, iUniverse and all others.  This is one first Basic Marketing Tool to help POD authors connect with readers of all kinds.  The books are chosen by me, so the list might not reflect all tastes, but it is a place to start.

Independent bookstores have good business reasons not to carry POD books.  But there may be a solution: A store could carry a single display copy (which they would get for free) of the titles they like, and customers who wish to buy would order the POD like any other special order book, paying in advance. The mechanics of fulfillment can be streamlined so the customer would get the book by USPS media mail within 3 weeks.

The first challenge is to get independent bookstores to see the “display copy” idea as a viable one. The bookstore profit can be made equivalent to the normal profit on special orders (some % of the list price.) And the store has ZERO investment in stocking the books.

I would like some creative feedback on this “display copy” idea.
